Compulsive sexual behaviours and thoughts
People seek help for a whole range of concerns, more than can be easily listed here. Some people seek help to reduce using online pornography, others have a concern about their frequent short-term relationships or that dates too frequently end in a one night stand. Other people express concern about compulsive behaviours, for example, visiting sex workers or using sex too much to ‘self soothe’ or as a way to deal with anxiety or stress. Some people are concerned about obsessive thoughts or activities related to their level of libido or desire (too much or too little). When this area of relationships and sex feels out of control or when it affects daily life or you achieving the things you want out of life, it may be time to take action.
Do you sometimes engage in risky, dangerous, unwise or unhealthy sexual behaviours? Some people feel concerned because they abstain from sex or relationships altogether. Is your ability to form healthy intimate relationships being affected?
Are there financial or legal consequences involved with activities? You may use up time, emotional energy and sometimes spend money as well. Do you feel shame or regret and even resolve to change and stop? However, time passes and you find yourself repeating patterns or searching for new ways to fulfil desires.
My approach is to view you as whole, capable and fully able to make choices. As such we will work together, helping you to deal well with thoughts, desires and reduce your compulsive sexual activity or change your relationship to sex and relationships. I listen and support. Changing your relationship with sexual behaviours
The main work we will do together is examining your relationship with sexual desire and sex in a broader sense. We will look at the underlying reasons for your patterns. You may find that the underlying issues also really need to be addressed. For example, has sexual activity or pornography begun to function as your way of avoiding important life issues or relationships? Do you ever use pornography or sex to in fact avoid relationships or to numb yourself or suppress emotions and feelings that are uncomfortable?
We will find new ways for you to do well with challenges and thereby reduce the role of unwanted sexual activity in your life. I hope my hypnotherapy sessions will be the path to more balance and control in this area,
