Jason Demant London Imposter Syndrome Therapy

Solution Focused Hypnotherapist for Work Anxiety and Imposter Syndrome. King's Cross and Online.

Do you experience self-doubt, anxiety and fear of failure?

Imposter syndrome is that pressure to work late and excel. You might fear failure or what others will think. It can be very stressful to live like this. It is common for people to have sleep difficulties, experience stress related symptoms, such as digestive problems, chronic fatigue, and in some cases anxiety attacks. It is common for people to burn out from prolonged stress.

Does this sound like you?

  • Do you over-prepare or procrastinate?
  • Leave things to the last minute?
  • A bit of a perfectionist, stress about everything being to the highest of standards?
  • Ever worry that people will think you lack the needed expertise or experience?

The good news is that imposter syndrome can be treated. However, it does take time and will involve digging more deeply into the root factors. We will look at the true reasons you overwork, set standards so high, or worry about what others may think of you.

Imposter syndrome and procrastination

Imposter syndrome affects people who are usually very intelligent and high achievers. I have helped many people reduce imposter syndrome and most have good jobs and are doing well. Yet, it just feels like they have to work way too hard or else things might collapse. They feel that they don’t truly deserve the success they have and it could disappear unless they work hard, yet may also procrastinate and feel overwhelmed.

Using NLP (Neuro-linguistic programming), hypnotherapy and other therapy exercises, we look at the underlying causes of anxiety and how you feel about work, colleagues, and career. Sessions do not have a set format. Sometimes it's about skills such as overcoming public speaking anxiety or about how you feel about yourself, self-esteem, confidence and that you do in fact that the skills and expertise.

It isn’t about lowering your standards but raising your levels of confidence, recognising accomplishments and self-value and that you are ‘good enough’. It can be about understanding why you procrastinate or fear being found out as a fraud at work. Sometimes it may be adding more self-care and seeing that you do belong where you are.

Looking at the causes of impostor syndrome

The first step is to think very clearly about what is causing your impostor syndrome, low mood or higher than normal levels of anger, anxiety or stress.

Sometimes a particular event or set of circumstances has caused your change in mood or stress. Of course we will look at this and how you can think or feel better.

Common causes for imposter syndrome include highly critical parents who used comparison to siblings or peers, or environments where acceptance and praise were dependant on achievements and outcomes.

Reconsidering long-standing and self-undermining narratives will help you overcome the self-doubt, shame, and anxiety that come with imposter syndrome.

Sessions aim to open up a path toward self-empowerment, selflove, self-confidence, and authenticity. Feeling more calm and grounded.

When we feel calmer or more grounded, we can also make better decisions. Hypnotherapy in particular is very good for decreasing levels of stress, raising mood, self esteem and increasing daily calm.

Imposter Syndrome: Looking at the Stress or Perfectionism Cycles

The main work we will do together is examining your relationship with stress, anger or anxiety and ultimately, yourself. We will look at the thoughts and feelings you are having. This may involve looking at patterns you fall into when at work or in relationships. You will discover how to step back and feel less attachment to outcomes, people or situations.

Imposter syndrome is really a cycle. It starts when people face a task or challenge, leading to either over-preparation or procrastination. Both of these responses can lead to burnout and suboptimal productivity. Over-preparers may believe they have to work harder than others to get things right.

Procrastinators feel rushed and inadequate as a result of working last minute and feel like they will eventually be exposed as frauds.

I help by talking through your imposter syndrome stresses or challenges. I may use hypnotherapy, visualisations or other expert exercises to help you reduce high levels of stress, anxiety or emotions.

Get in touch to book your first imposter syndrome reducing session. Why wait to feel better about anxiety, low mood or stress and it's causes.

I never imagined that I would ever be able to say this, but thank you so much Jason for helping me to feel more comfortable with flying. I have just returned from my trip to Dubai and to my complete surprise, I was noticeably calmer in the time leading up to the flight and managed bouts of turbulence really well. In the past, very mild turbulence would send me into a complete frenzy. I kept waiting for that sinking feeling in my stomach, the sweaty palms and the tears, but it didn't come. Although I was still very aware of my surroundings and the noises on the flight, I did not feel the same panic or alarm as I usually would; instead, it was more a curiosity in what was happening. I was able to eat, watch a film (put headphones on!!!) and sleep, things I could only dream of doing before. Thank you for making the world a whole lot bigger for me - Japan next!!! 🙂

I found my sessions with Jason very useful and he helped me understand the connections between triggers and the negative behaviours I was keen to cut out.

Through the hypnotherapy I believe I have been able to create more negative connotations with these behaviours which have led me to avoid situations and triggers which could lead to relapsing into these negative behaviours.

Jason is very reassuring and helpful and I felt comfortable during our sessions and I would recommend him if you are trying to break or change some of your addictive behaviours.

I had fear of heights. It is really not that easy to cure and to get rid of. I thought about hypnosis and after 3 sessions it is gone! I'm in mountains now and where previously I was unable to walk - I don't feel any negative emotions now! So it worked for me!

I have smoked and then vaped for 20 years. Fighting the cravings has always been the hardest part of successfully quitting permanently.

Jason is professional and calm. We talked through all the reasons why I was smoking/vaping, and actually going through this made me realise some things I had never actually thought about. It wasn't nicotine. It was other things! Then, hypnotherapy was a highly recommended experience that changes your mindset. I left the session and have not had the desire to vape since! Anyone who is wants to stop vaping / smoking - go do this. I have already recommended Jason to other friends - he was great!

I went to Jason for around 6 months to get help with some issues I was looking to overcome.

We actually didn't do any hypnotherapy as I wasn't sure how comfortable I felt, and Jason assured me we didn't have to; however, if I were to do it again I'd certainly like to give it a try.

The sessions helped me enormously and I learnt a lot about myself and the reasons as to why I do certain things. Whether that was through conversations over a series of sessions with Jason, or through reading material he recommended outside of our sessions.

I also really enjoyed them, because I felt I was talking to a friend more-so than a therapist, and I think that's one of the key differentiators between Jason and other therapists i've had; is that he helps you feel comfortable in discussing things that would often seem uncomfortable.

I would absolutely recommend Jason to anyone seeking therapy and will seek him out myself the next time I feel the need for counselling.

Thanks again Jason!

I would highly recommend Jason. I approached Jason as I was looking to quit smoking. Jason made me feel at ease, it was so easy to open up and talk to him about my smoking habit, and what I wanted to achieve through hypnotherapy. I also found the hypnotherapy very beneficial, my whole mindset around smoking and what my beliefs were on this have completely changed thanks to Jason.

I learned a lot during my sessions with Jason, and have come away with new thought processes in place to help detach from old habits. He is a thoughtful practitioner who is not afraid to challenge you in order to make way for practical and positive change.

Jason was highly recommended to me from a friend, and from 4 sessions he has worked 'magic' for me. Jason clearly knows his stuff, but is also very patient friendly, we had a great rapport. Can't recommend him highly enough.

I had a couple of sessions with Jason for a severe fear of heights. After just a few days after the first session I was able to climb up ladders/walk along scaffolding without any concern whatsoever. I am yet to try larger challenges but I can tell already that the sessions have significantly helped me! I would massively recommend Jason who made the experience very comfortable and was very helpful and professional the whole time. Cannot speak highly enough and incredibly happy with the results!

I recently had the pleasure of working with Jason overcoming a fear of flying and I highly recommend him. He was very professional, always timely and well-prepared for our sessions. He communicated quickly over email, a plus for someone in a different time zone doing sessions over skype. Most importantly, Jason delivered excellent results, and I felt the positive effects almost immediately. I would definitely work with Jason again and highly recommend him to anyone seeking a skilled and compassionate hypnotherapist. Five stars all around!
