Unlocking the Mind: Understanding Hypnotherapy Prices

Looking for information about hypnotherapy prices? Jason Demant, London clinical hypnotherapist will outline hypnotherapy prices and share his hypnotherapy price structure. Many people are drawn to hypnotherapy for its potential to transform lives, whether tackling anxiety, breaking bad habits, or enhancing performance. Understanding hypnotherapy prices can be a bit of a maze. Costs can vary widely based on factors like location, therapist experience and session length. In this article, we’ll demystify the financial aspect of hypnotherapy. You’ll be equipped to make more informed decisions about hypnotherapy prices and fee structure.

Understanding Hypnotherapy Prices and How Fees Can Vary

Hypnotherapy fees are not fixed and can vary widely depending on several important factors. Understanding why pricing can vary will help you make an informed choice. I’m sure you want to find an effective hypnotherapist and at a price at which you will be able to afford to have the right number of sessions to overcome the challenges that got you looking for help in the first place.

Let’s look at some factors that affect hypnotherapy prices

Location Matters

One of the biggest determinants of hypnotherapy fees is always going to be location. Practitioners based in larger cities, for example in London or in more affluent areas often charge higher rates. This could be due to higher overheads such as rent and business expenses. It can be due to a prestigious location, for example being on Harley Street. Is a hypnotherapist on Harley Street better?

Maybe, maybe not. I’m currently located in King’s Cross. Up until the Covid pandemic I, in fact, did see people at an office on Harley Street. Harley Street is a famous street for doctors and medical practitioners. In reality anyone can simply rent a room there. However, being able to afford a space there may point to more expertise and qualifications in some instances.

Experience and Qualifications

Experience is another key factor. Highly trained hypnotherapists with years of practice, specialised certifications, or notable client reviews will often command higher fees. Similarly, practitioners who are recognised experts in niche areas, for example smoking cessation, weight management, or trauma‑focused hypnotherapy, may charge a premium for their more niche or specialised skillset.

Session Length and Format

Standard session lengths typically range from 50–90 minutes. Longer sessions generally cost more, reflecting the additional time for in‑depth work. Online sessions may sometimes be priced slightly lower than in-person appointments. Although this may depend on the practitioner or what other treatments they offer.

Package Discounts and Programs

Many hypnotherapists, including myself, offer block bookings or packages. This then provides a lower per-session cost for clients happy to commit to multiple sessions. As you will see below, for example, a single session might cost £120, while a 4-session package could reduce the effective rate to £100 per session. It is very common that smoking cessation or similar structured programmes may also be priced as a complete package. Sometimes at a higher rate than a single session but designed for optimal results will addons such as free audios or extra support between sessions.

So, how much are hypnotherapy sessions?

At the time of writing, on average, hypnotherapy sessions in the UK range from £80–£180 per session, depending on the above factors. In the United States, rates often vary between $100–$250 per session. If you receive state benefits or are unemployed, sometimes practitioners may offer some low-cost slots. It is always worth asking if that applies to your situation.

Some hypnotherapists and their fees

Please note that the following information was correct at the time of writing and based on information found online. As mentioned, higher hypnotherapy prices don’t always translate into better results. I will also share my fees below. Here are three hypnotherapy practitioners and you can see what they charge. I mention these three simply to note fees and is not a recommendation of their services.

London Hypnosis — Their published hypnotherapy prices for a central‑London session are £225. (londonhypnosis.com)

Suzanne Thomas Hypnotherapy — An initial assessment (1.5 hours) is £240; subsequent one‑hour sessions are £175. Her stop‑smoking package costs £520. (suzannethomas.co.uk)

Elaine Kimber Hypnotherapy (based in Kensington) — Standard therapy sessions are ~£160 per hour, with the first (90‑minute) consultation is £160. Smoking‑cessation package is listed at £450. (elainekimber.co.uk)

I have seen hypnotherapists on Harley Street charging over £350 for a session. I guess you will have to work hard in that session to really make long lasting changes. However, for many people, I’m sure, they see a great deal of benefit and are worth the investment.

Jason Demant, London Hypnotherapist and online hypnotherapy prices

Here is an outline of my hypnotherapy prices structure. My goal is to be transparent about what I offer, so you can decide whether one of my programmes feels right for you, without needing to email first to ask, “how much is it?”

One-to-One Sessions

Standard 50-minute session – £120 per session

A single session is ideal if you have one specific issue you want to address: a phobia, a vaping habit, anxiety, a mindset block, or simply to explore whether hypnotherapy/coaching feels like a fit.

It is also always totally fine to come for one session and then this session can be the first of a block booking. Paying for a first session and then a block also helps split the cost. So effectively it is like paying for your hypnotherapy sessions in instalments.

Package Discounts (Block Bookings)

If you’re committed to making real change, a block booking offers better value and helps build consistency:

  • 3-Session Package – £330 Total (equivalent to £110/session)
  • 4-Session Package – £400 total (equivalent to £100/session)
  • 6-Session Package – £570 total (equivalent to £95/session)

Packages include flexible scheduling, priority booking, and email support between sessions (for check-ins, reflections or questions). Packages are ideal for long-term habit change, weight loss, addictions, IBS symptom management, confidence building, career or life-direction work, burnout recovery, or personal development over time.

Smoking Cessation Programme

Quitting smoking is different from other therapies since it involves habit rewiring and strategies for a mindset shift around the role nicotine has been having for you.

I run a two-session quit smoking programme, for £295.

The first session is for about 90 minutes. During this session we will go through your habit in depth. We look at times you might find it tough not to smoke, look at the reasons why you smoke or might find quitting hard and ensure you feel confident about not smoking in the future. There is also hypnotherapy to help reinforce these ideas and help you feel less desire to smoke. A week or a few days later will be your quit session. This is for 50 minutes and is mostly hypnotherapy.

Stop Vaping Programme

Vaping can be just like smoking for many people. However, increasingly I am contacted by people wishing to stop vaping who never smoked at all. So, currently, for vaping, I have two options:

Option one – when vaping follows on from or is connected to smoking

If you vape and previously smoked, I usually recommend my two session quit vaping programme. Just like my smoking programme the first session is about 90 minutes. And a week or a few days later, your second, ‘quit’ session is for 50 minutes. It is just like my smoking programme and we just talk and focus on vaping instead.

Option two – When vaping has no connection to smoking

If you never smoked or vaping now seems very different from any previous smoking, I then suggest that we simply go session by session. Single sessions are for 50 minutes and people will usually have two or sometimes three sessions for vaping. Sessions are £120. As with other sessions, there is a reduction for booking three or four sessions at £330 and £400 respectively. It is important to cover everything you need to quit and the main treatment is hypnotherapy.

Hypnotherapy prices and booking sessions

I am always open to different session structures. So, if you would prefer some longer sessions of, say 90 or more minutes, I’m very happy to discuss that too. People usually come once a week, but that frequency isn’t set in stone either. If you have any questions about sessions, be that hypnotherapy prices or anything else, just get in touch. No question is too small.

You can also have a free initial phone constipation before book. You can also just email me and ask for a session slot. It is also possible to book and pay using my online booking platform without initially getting in touch.
